About Us

AIMS

The aim of EON is for individuals and communities to improve the well being of indigenous Western Australians by providing resources for projects that have sustainable outcomes and community support and involvement. EON supports innovative, tailored and community-driven “hand-up not hand-out” services and programs that are not currently delivered by government.

OBJECTIVES

  • To work with people with professional knowledge of indigenous issues to identify, prioritise and support initiatives and projects designed to address problems faced by indigenous individuals and communities. The initiatives and projects are to be self-sustaining, have strong local community backing and well-defined goals.
  • To provide a wide range of resources, including cash, professional advice and mentoring, in support of such initiatives and goals.
  • To obtain private sector support and corporate sponsorship to help fulfill the aims and objectives of EON.

EON Directors

Caroline De Mori - Chairman

Caroline was the driving force behind the creation of EON. She has more than 25 years’ experience as a public relations and corporate communications manager and until recently was the proprieter of a specialist corporate communications consultancy. Caroline frequently traveled to remote areas of Western Australia in her role as a consultant to WA based companies and witnessed the need for better education, training and health services in Aboriginal communities. In setting up EON she felt that she could put something back into this State and provide an opportunity for other individuals and corporations to help a part of our community in need. In addition to her work with The EON Foundation, Caroline is a member of the Landcorp Board of Directors.

Katrina Burton

Katrina is a solicitor and a director on a number of private sector and government boards. Katrina is the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Landgate. She has been involved with EON since its inception. Katrina shares Caroline’s commitment to creating an avenue for companies and individuals who have benefited from the strong Western Australian economy to direct some of that benefit to indigenous communities in a way that allows to people of those communities to grow strong.


Clair Medhurst

Clair is a solicitor and public company director.  She has travelled often to the Pilbara and Kimberley regions of WA working as a solicitor in the mining industry or exploring at leisure. Clair joined the board of EON in 2007 and shares EON's drive to garner support for practical initiatives which will improve the health and life-skills of aboriginal people, and help build thriving communities.

Team Members

Sabrina Hahn

Horticulturist and EON Edible Garden Consultant Sabrina has operated her own landscape and design business for many years around Western Australia. She appears each week on ABC radio both mid week and on Saturday mornings. Sabrina is a passionate sustainability practitioner and is a published author and a public speaker. She writes a weekly column for The West Australian. Sabrina has worked closely with EON since 2007 on the EON Edible Gardens project.

Chris Cassidy

Chris is a well-respected local identity in the Kimberley with a background in irrigation, horticulture and training and joins EON to provide on-site training and practical support as well as maintenance back up to the schools and communities involved in the EON Edible Gardens.

Andrea Whitely

Executive Assistant Part Time Andrea joined EON in 2009. Her previous role was as WA Co-ordinator of Australia’s Open Garden Scheme and prior to that 20 years experience in the corporate sector in retail and airline industries. Until recently she was on ABC radio as one of The Soil Sisters with Sabrina Andrea writes a regular column in HortJournal. She continues her work as a garden consultant and public speaker.
